FREE NAIL TRIM WITH EVERY GROOMING PACKAGE!!!
Misconceptions in Cat Grooming are a common occurrence in my field, by becoming more educated in Felines i can help you stomp those beliefs and myths. Come see for yourself. proof is in the love and in the education we have on each Cat. Worth the trip for the small town feel. If we do not have an answer to a question or concern you may have, we will be happy to help find the answer for you!
Unfortunately, we are not the groomer for you. All Cats can benefit from a bath.
The Cats breed standard is our focus in our salon and we want to be focusing on skin, coat health and overall maintenance of your Cat(s). A Cat usually has a timer and when that timer is up their experience can become very stressful and dangerous for me and the Cat(s). Due to the limited tolerance of a Cat, we will not do anything extra at this time in our salon.
YES!!! Cats are prideful animals and take pride in being clean and comfortable. It is a misunderstanding that Cats groom themselves! they lick themselves and do not wash with soap and water. When Cats lick themselves, their fur gets dander and saliva on it. When this happens it is a main contribution to human allergies! it is not their fur! Cats cannot prevent matting, greasy coat, dander, hairballs, or shedding ! senior or obese cats may need extra help staying mat free and healthy as well. A professional Bath and Blow dry along with going to a Cat Groomer on a 12 week or less schedule can! it also reduces stress on the cat, by seeing us more often.
Without treating your cat to a full groom, we cannot shave or just comb out your matted cat. Matting is caused by oils and dead hair clumped together. Combing these mats out causes severe pain. To shave without giving the cat a bath does not fix the root of the matting problem.
The root of the problem can be fixed with a bath using soap and water, which will wash away dead hair and oily skin. This will prevent the problem from happening again.
We DO NOT sedate or medicate ANY Cats at our Salon even if it is given to us by the owner. We are not a licensed Vet.
ANY Cats showing aggressive behavior during the grooming process or walk in services are subject to our behavior fee of $30 added to your total of full service.
BELIEVE IT OR NOT we groom and have temperament and handling experience with MOST situations. I would say that 99.9% of Aggressive Cats can be calmed by a bath! by coming in for grooming on REGULAR basis helps the Cat trust more and understand they are safe with us.
Matting and pelting make Cats uncomfortable and mad! being on a schedule prevents extra stress and pain to your Cat.
Like Humans Cats have skin and hair. Cats have natural oils in their skin and coat, when they lick their coats they spread oil and saliva all over their bodies. Cats NEVER stop producing oil on their skin and coats. This build up of oils and dead shedding hair, cause matting and dander. Leaving your Cat with an unhealthy coat and skin. This is why bathing and preventing is key to a happy healthy Cat! control the oils and shedding and your GOLDEN!
Some matting can be safely combed out during the grooming. Some matting will have to be removed by the use of clippers to be as humane as possible for your kitty. Matting causes pain and some mat removal, even being gentle can cause your cat pain.
Most Cats act aggressively due to mat removal and are at higher risk of cuts and knicks of the skin. Sometimes shaving an aggressive Cat cannot be done due to high risk of Cat and Groomer. If a Cat becomes aggressive during the mat removal process we will charge a behavior fee of $30 extra.
We DO NOT sedate or medicate ANY Cats at our Salon even if it is given to us by the owner. We are not a licensed Vet.
Matting fees could cost you anywhere between $25 to $75 added to the cost of your total grooming package.
Matting of ANY KIND is completely preventable and were happy to get you on a schedule!!!
* PELT REMOVAL*
For extremely matted pelted coats where lots of extra time and care are needed to remove. Price may vary. A pelted coat is a clump of hair that is not able to be combed out and has to be removed by clippers. It is to close to the skin to safely remove with a comb.
(Pelting all over the Cat will be $200 total groom cost. This will REQUIRE a 8 week follow up bath and brush!!!)
*Severe Matting and Heavy Undercoat Removal*
Matting of the coat is light clumping of the hair that has not attached itself to the skin yet and can be removed by combing or blow drying. If this causes a Cat to much discomfort we may recommend our popular lion cut, for a more humane approach.
(If your Cat needs to be shaved due to not tolerating the de-matting process. It will be $175 for your entire grooming. It require another bath and brush appointment scheduled out NO LATER THAN 8 WEEKS!!!)
If You Refuse, or Cannot Book Out Another Reoccurring Appointment. At 8 weeks out (or no show/cancel after booking the 8 week appointment) Felisha's Feline Spa will deny servicing you or your kitties in the future!
Matting/pelting is VERY SERIOUS and can cause death to a Cat. We want to establish how important preventative maintenance care is, so this wont occur in the future. Happy, Healthy Cat. Thank You!
Well, No! Not all Cats are capable of managing their coats without help from their humans or a groomer. When Cats are unable to care for themselves, the problem of matting, shedding, unsightly dander and gross litter box surprises get stuck to their rears etc. The more often a Cat comes to the groomer, on a schedule, will reduce or get rid of these problems. Most Cats can be on a schedule of every 3 months to reduce these problems, Cats such as Persians, Himalayans, Maine Coons, Ragdolls, and Siberians have more dense thick cottony coats which will need to be on a 4 to 6 week or even a 6 to 8 week schedule due to being WAY MORE high maintenance.
The short answer is YES! by getting your cat on a 4 to 6 week bath and comb out schedule, can reduce allergies significantly! with our professional grade Cat Safe shampoos and tools it will combat the dander on the skin which will help reduce the allergens in your home! We are also ALK certified in Sanitation and health of our facility. We were screened and tested by a licensed Vet. Our Salon was also screened and checked and passed as well. ALK is a company that collects our Cat hair to make the allergy shots for people allergic to Cats. So your kitty is also helping others who suffer with allergies! how cool is that? health and sanitation is VERY important to us.
No we do not! We are not a licensed vet. Even if you bring in medication for us to give to your Cat, we will not.
βIt is a common to think that cats hate water. Most cats show little to no stress during their bath. The warm water and gentle massage can even be very relaxing. It may take a couple sessions for your cat to become accustomed to bathing and the grooming process but soon they will understand there is nothing to fear.
Cats with more diluted cottony coats should be groomed more often than cats with regular coarser coats. Cats that are cream in color, blue in color, white, or lilac etc should be groomed every 6 weeks for long coats and probably every 8 weeks for a shorter coat, depending on health, breed, weight, age. Full coated long hair Cats with great health and at home care, should ideally be groomed on a schedule of every 6 weeks to keep matting under control and shedding. A Shorter Haired Cat every 8 to 12 weeks depending on what you're trying to achieve at home. This timeline may be different depending on each cats needs.
